And your first reaction may be, somewhat correctly, to check the fluid level in the power steering reservoir. But what if it?s full?
It?s not a lack of fluid, but an excess of air in the system that is causing the noise. Low fluid levels can allow the pump to starve and ingest the air, but there are other avenues air can use to get in. No matter how it got there, air in the system can quickly destroy the pump and result in costly repairs for your customer.
